Partnership built on the spirit of collaboration

At Forest, we seek collaborative opportunities in all phases of development—from products in pre-clinical development to those ready for FDA review—as well as co-promotional arrangements for approved products.

To take advantage of the benefits of each potential therapy, our approach follows the basic principles of a successful partnership—the ability to quickly apply expertise, maintain a high level of product focus and remain agile at every stage of development.

These basic principles allow us to be open to virtually any therapeutic category, including the areas in which we are currently active:

CNSCardiovascular
RespiratoryPain
InflammationGastroenterology
MetabolicInfectious disease

Our track record

There are many examples that highlight how a collaborative approach in developing and marketing in-licensed products has solidified and deepened our partnerships.

Forest’s long-term alliance with H. Lundbeck A/S began when the company in-licensed the antidepressant Celexa® (citalopram HBr) for marketing in the United States and then was extended to include the antidepressant Lexapro® (escitalopram oxalate). Forest successfully brought both Celexa and Lexapro to market, eventually creating the fastest-growing antidepressant franchise in the United States.

Forest’s agreement with Daiichi Sankyo Pharma Inc. to co-promote Benicar® (olmesartan medoxomil) and Benicar HCT® (olmesartan medoxomil — hydrochlorothiazide) was signed after the submission of the NDA, ensuring the important new antihypertensive agent would be supported by Forest’s sales and marketing strength.

Other successful partnerships include:

Namenda® (memantine HCl) licensed from Merz, the only drug approved to treat moderate and severe Alzheimer’s disease
Campral® (acamprosate calcium) the first treatment approved in nearly a decade for alcohol dependence, licensed from Merck Santé
